Higher Education 2021 Outlook

2021 outlook negative as pandemic weakens key revenue streams

“The 2021 outlook for the US higher education sector remains negative, with reduced enrollment during the coronavirus pandemic leading to tuition revenue declines at a majority of both public and private universities. Reductions in auxiliary revenue, such as that earned from housing and parking could also be significant, while state funding and philanthropy will come under increasing stress as the health crisis persists. Universities will continue to use a variety of means to mitigate mounting deficits and enhance liquidity, and ongoing access to the capital markets is a strength for the sector.”
